The Nasipitnons in Edmonton Association aims to develop and implement a mentorship program for newcomers in Alberta. – To assist newcomers to integrate into the Canadian labour market..The Nasipitnons in Edmonton Association’s mission is to bridge the gap of newcomers and the different services provided by the Government of Alberta and to connect newcomers to employers and communities. The officers of the association are all immigrants, and fully understand and experienced for themselves the challenges, hardships and barriers faced by immigrants in integrating in the community. In most cases, based on experiences, they don’t know where to go, whom to approach/connect and what to do even if at this digital age. One cannot assume that all newcomers are technology literate.. With the association’s members’ expertise, they will connect the beneficiaries of the program to the available services in the following fields: labour and employment, financial orientation and education relating to employment. With the implementation of the project, we plan to lease an office for the whole duration of the project, hire support for coordinator and administrative operations providing opportunities to Albertans. Our primary focus is to help newcomers in Alberta. To guide, acquire, correct, update information and connections in finding a job related to their field or chosen occupation. The association also supports employers and communities by providing mentorship. We support their workforce needs and assist with labour attraction and retention efforts.
